Dr. John Lee, Founder – Bogey Bear Junior Golf
Son of Chinese immigrants, Dr. Lee was born and raised in Spokane, Washington. Growing up with his twin brother in an accomplished family of five siblings, his competitive spirit, ranging from sports to academics was seeded and nurtured. He attended the University of Washington earning a B.S. in Zoology and his M.D. degrees. After ten years of general practice, he completed his residency training in diagnostic radiology at the University of Washington. What followed was a distinguished medical career of hospital radiology, private practice, mobile radiology and teaching as an Associate Professor of Radiology at the VA Hospital in Seattle. He retired in 1995. A self described “Golf-Nut,” Dr. Lee combined his love for golf and teaching with his desire to help people by establishing the Bogey Bear Junior Golf Foundation, a free golf program for inner-city youth. Dr. Lee’s passion for the game and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life has resulted in thousands of youth being introduced to the game of golf. Dr. John Lee passed away on April 1, 2008. He was 77 years old.
